And how many people have any reason to walk 11 miles at night in December?

And I thought that walking 11 miles every night was the norm. I thought everybody did it. Now I understand why I never see anyone else out there when I'm putting in my midnight miles. I just thought my vision was going bad, or that my headlamp had burnt out. Your question is bringing me back to reality!

I didn't really have a reason outside of wanting to test out my cold weather gear, loving winter weather, and wanting to add value to my cheap gifts for christmas by being able to say that I walked 11 miles at night to buy them their cd haha.

Yesterdays afternoon high in Grand Junction was just 15 degrees. The TV weather guy said it was the coldest high temperature in 10 years. The weather is always so mild in Colorado!
This was the coldest high I've experienced since a high of 9 degrees in Virginia Beach of all places, back in the early '90s. That was one of those 100 year cold spells.

You know it's really cold when.......
You know it's really cold when.......
The weatherman says, It'll be warmer tomorrow. There's a cold front moving in that will clear out this inversion layer. The guy really said that, or words to that effect.
You wake up at 6AM and notice that the temperature is 12 degrees, and you say to your wife. It didn't get so cold last nite.
The afternoon high is 28 degrees, and you're feeling thankful that it feels so warm outside.

Yes, and the 101 MPH wind gusts yesterday on Berthoud Pass, winds that closed that pass and a couple of others.
Variety like that is the spice of life. Who needs dull boring sameness every day, that's what Hawaii is for.

I have lived here all of my life and after Hurricane Katrina I am more determined than ever to get out. Every state has bad weather of some kind. It just depends on what you can live with and what you can't. I am visiting Estes Park in March and can't wait to see the mountains and feel the nice weather. Even if it is cold and snowing. It will be a nice change to me.

Come on up to CO I was in the same situation as you. I moved from the New Orleans metro area (where I spent my entire life) to Fort Collins CO right after Katrina hit. I can't imagine going back and really wonder why I didn't move here earlier. The entire atmosphere here is so much different. You are right I would gladly trade CO weather for hot/humid southern weather - and this is coming from a native. I think you'll really dig the change - having 4 seasons is nice. I hope your trip to Estes goes well - you picked the best time to be there (no crowds in the winter)

I like the four AZ seasons: Hot and sunny, warm/sunny, cool/sunny and slightly more cool/sunny. Colorado makes me feel ripped off. You have COLD/SUnny and HOT/sunny about 3 weeks of fall, and 3 weeks of spring

I was just out there for the first time ever and I have to say that the weather is not what I expected! I was packed and prepared for below 0 temperatures on the mountains and a lot colder weather with barely any sunshine.
To my surprise, I was able to wear a hoodie and scar and a pair of comfy pants on the mountain and the rest of the time was able to get away with a hoodie or northface jacket with running around. Is this a normal December for Colorado??
