Compared to the Denver area, I guess you could say that our morning low of +13 over here in Grand Junction....is downright balmy. I better grab a spot on the sun deck before someone beats me to it.

We do have the advantage here, at least for another few weeks. The one thing they have on us are those occasional down slope chinook winds coming off the mountains that can warm up the area to 55 to 60 for a few days at a time where we will be sitting at 30 in January for the month.

That's ok, it doesn't snow here in April. OR May.

Then on December 15th, 2008 the temperature bottomed out at -19F degrees below zero at 2:31 am. This is a new record low temperature for December 15th breaking the old record of -6 set in 1951.

A wind chill of -40F below zero was recorded also.
Yeah, and by the weekend it'll be 60 and sunny I'd be willing to wager . Welcome to the West.

LBear could move to Chicago, Green Bay, Minneapolis etc. I don't believe anyone has ever said Denver was consistently mild. Just more mild than people expect who don't live here. Frankly, Denver weather is not "consistently" anything. Troll.

Watch out man, I hear that Cheney is out hunting this week. Lame duck ISO geese. Irony abounds.

Spend a long cold, gray winter in the Northeast and then compare Denver's occassional cold snap or snow dump which is sporadic. I'l take 55F and sunny which feels like 65F due to the lack of humidity and intensity of the sun. Sure there is cold and some snow along the Front Range but nothing like the northeast. The weather changes often in CO but a clear sunny sky in midwinter is great and that is common here.

Well, right now they are showing a high of 26F and a low of 5F for Saturday. You can keep wishing.

I rather enjoyed the snow yesterday and managed to do some Christmas decorating outside. I just didn't stay out there long enough to get my hands cold.

Let it snow, I say. I feel sorry for the homeless people and the dogs who get left outside, but people are available to help them too. Hopefully, the homeless people got shelter and fed yesterday. Hopefully, dog owners let their dogs in the house or at least in the garage last night.

Denver and my area was way colder than Alamosa yesterday. I think they were at 20°! A real heat wave!

Semantics. My point is, as another poster above pointed out, that Colorado weather in winter isn't consistently anything. Yes it can get brutally cold occasionally; but generally it's sunny, dry and pretty pleasant in the winter most of the time, esp. compared to the midwest and east coast. I should know, I've lived both places. I wouldn't trade the winters in CO for the winters of Michigan or the northeast for anything.
