105 in GJ on 7-19-10, breaking the old record of 104. It it hits 100 again today ( and it is very likely to do so ), it will be the 6th consecutive day of triple digit highs. I woke up sweating at 3AM this morning ( even though I had a fan blowing directly at me ), got out of bed and noted that the outdoor temperature was 83. This was the hottest night during the 4 years I've lived in GJ.

What about Trinidad? It seems to have nice temps all year round. It is where I've been looking.

According to my unofficial climate stats derived from the NCDC:

The 5 CO weather stations with the warmest average July highs:

1. Uravan (94.9°F)
2. Las Animas (94.8°F)
3. Palisade (94.2°F)
4. La Junta (93.8°F)
5. Holly (93.7°F)

Grand Junction is #12, Pueblo is #19.

The 5 CO weather stations with the warmest average January lows (some shockers here, remember don't point the finger at me, point it at the NCDC ):

1. Walsenburg (21.0°F)
2. Canon City (19.7°F)
3. Gateway (19.3°F)
4. Boulder (19.2°F)
5. Trinidad (19.1°F)

Grand Junction is #11, Pueblo is #30.

i actually researched the weather in pueblo and it does get hot during the day, but the lows seep down to the 50s at night and the website i saw showed me the temperature has exceeded 100 four times this year,"look up pueblo ten day forecast and click on the month icon" and just barely, the hottest this year was 102 in gj we have eight days now, and forecasted today to be over 100 as well. we can always add a few degrees to our highs too because our airport is located north of the city and a few hundred more feet up in elevation. oh not to mention i checked local weather at six this morning and it was eighty degrees here in gj. Grand Junction my not be hotter than pheonix or vegas, but definently warmer than pueblo not to mention a lot less snow in the winter. :P

I want to relocate in Co. I am looking for an area where I can still see mountains and get no snow or almost no snow in the winter?? Need great school systems,,,that is the most important.

Compare didn't areas on your computer daily as I do. I see what Trinidad, Chama and Pagosa Springs are doing on daily basics.

I think you requirements are mutually exclusive. Actually, I don't know of anywhere in CO that gets no or very little snow in winter.

Not happening. All of Colorado within view of the mountains is at higher elevations where snowfall is a normal winter event.

About the only area that might even qualify would be the western valleys around Grand Junction and Delta--they average less than 20" of snow per winter and are certainly within sight of the mountains. But little snow does not mean warm in winter--the western valleys are prone to get inversions in the winter, epecially if there is any snow on the ground, that can keep temperatures cold for days or weeks.

Cañon City is also in proximity to the mountains and relatively mild, but is not snow-free--getting around 30" of snow per winter, though it usually does not stay on the ground long.

As for schools, the areas mentioned have OK schools, but I wouldn't call them great. In fact, few schools in Colorado rise to that level, in part because of the fact that Colorado spends relatively little money per student on education. I will be the first one to say that just throwing money aimlessly at education does not mean great schools, but starving education for funding won't, either.
