Best place in CO to start a business?
Hey! I'm a long time reader, first time poster. Without getting into too much detail, I'm starting a company that deals in online marketing, website production, brand management and general entertainment-related stuff. I can run this business out of my home but will need to interface with local clients semi-regularly.
Which of these areas in CO would be most conductive to a young entrepreneur such as myself: Castle Rock, Highlands Ranch, Cherry Creek, Ft. Collins, Colorado Springs. (or one not listed if you can make a case for it).
I've visited all several times, and see pros and cons to all. I'm currently considering Castle Rock as a top choice due to the proximity to Denver metro and that it's centrally located without having to live in Denver metro.
I'll gladly supply any details needed. And don't be afraid to give me blunt reality when responding - I want to make as educated a decision as possible. Thanks a ton!

I"d say somewhere in the metro Denver area. It sort of depends on where your clients will be coming from, too. If they're all down in the southern area, then CR or even COS. Up here in Boulder Co., some people hesitate to even go to Denver!

Why do you suppose that is? Traffic?

There are some Denver-haters up here; there are some people who are afraid to drive in Denver.

DTC would be a good place, tons of businesses and it is generally in close proximity to downtown, castle rock, and boulder isn't too far.

Ahhh - good point! I've stayed cheaply in DTC hotels when I've visited. Anyone else have ideas, suggestions?

It depends on who your clients are. In the technology area, DTC is almost entirely medium to large, established companies. Are these your clients? Boulder County is full of small startups and is far more entrepreneurial than the south metro. Downtown Denver has a mix of startups and established companies.
On the other hand, if you're going to be hiring people, Fort Collins is famous for having lots of overeducated, undermployed people -- that translates into lower salaries and highly educated workers. However, your opportunities for local clients would not be good there as there are just a few large employers in Fort Collins.
Castle Rock might give you access to both Colorado Springs and South Metro Denver for your clients, but on the other hand, it might end up being too far from both, kind of the worst of both worlds. Depends on how far out of the way your clients will go.

you might want to research the market here and know your competition, if there is any.
"online marketing, website production, brand management and general entertainment-related stuff"....sounds like it could be ****-related to me....
New Frontier Media is the big player here in CO...
I figure in an economic downturn, the 2 things people will turn to are alcohol and ****...
