Default best route ?

O.K. now I am intrigued. So which is the best route to drive from Southern
Ca.(san marcos - about 30 miles nort of san diego) ? Destination Colorado Springs. I really appreciate the opinions of those who have "been there done that".

thanks
dan

I prefer the I-15 to I-70 to I-25 route. I think it is a little shorter then the I-15 to I-40 to I-25 route. Also if you are traveling during the summer the I-70 route is much cooler. If you take the northern route make sure you when you are going through Denver you exit on to southbound C-470 as you enter Golden and take that to I-25 instead of taking I-70 all the way into town, it will shave about 30 minutes of your trip. If you are driving in the winter though take I-40 because the mountains in Colorado can be very difficult during in the snow. The trip should take about 16-17 hours + stops at normal highway speeds. There are prettier drives but this way is the quickest.

Default Take the scenic route

My wife and I recently drove the I-15 to I-70 and then onto the I-25 south to get to Aurora. The drive was incredibly scenic once you get past North Las Vegas.

We left Huntington Beach and arrived approximately 16-17 hours later in overall driving time. We stopped and stayed the night in two different places to make it a true fun road trip, but what a trip. Every turn was a new experience. Don't forget to stop and take lots of pictures, it maybe a long time before you see these same places again!

It's incredible to see so much open space with few souls around to ***** it up for you. Especially when coming from the OC where there is way too many people any longer there.
