This was noted in a Boulder newspaper. I can't remember which one.

A beamer is 6000 sq feet? People live in them? I thought people who lived in their cars lived in old beaters.

I was commenting on a discussion I had a few days ago on this forum about large homes being inefficient (no matter how much solar crap you through on top of them). Just thought I'd get in one last jab before hitting the hay.

Home is where the heart is! Seriously though, you are likely to have a very challenging time finding what you are looking for with the limited budget that you suggest. If something like that was readily available within your budgetary constraints I'd probably be doing it too. Let me know what you find.
Use all that money to buy land, put up a flimsy wooden structure, throw down some rugs, get a coleman camp grill, and claim it's a hunting lodge to avoid regulations.

Just don't screw up Jazzlover's state, damnit. He's always, and I mean ALWAYS bitching and moaning. I'm sure if the Denver metro area built nothing but high rise apartments to combat the massive sprawl of master planned communities he'd be griping about the skyline. People like Jazzlover just like to ***** and moan and highlight the negative, never the positive. The fact that he's getting patted on the back for it is quite sad.

The fact that so many people don't appear to be concerned about what's happening in the world beyond their 'McLife' is pretty alarming to some of us, and Jazz speaks to that very well. Our present living arrangement isn't going to work very well in the near future, here in CO or anywhere else in the country. 2nd homes and 'retirement' homes will be things of the past to all but the super-wealthy, as the cost to feed ourselves and heat/cool/power our homes becomes more expensive. That's my perspective, anyway.

I would include myself among those who are concerned about what's happening in the world beyond their 'McLife' to be pretty alarming. However, I didn't get the impression that the OP is living a 'McLife' kind of lifestyle. Even if he/she is, and even if it p*ssed me off, who am I to say that he/she shouldn't be doing so. IMO, it's this very thing of making wrong anyone who doesn't live within the parameters of our own lifestyle, that has this country so divided. Our own division of us vs them is reflected in our do-nothing congress. So much energy has been invested in this stalemate, that our government is essentially powerless to make a change for the better. If shamu01 or anyone else wants a second home in Colorado, then lets find a way to accommodate it, that results in a win-win situation for those wanting a second home and those of us who are opposed to rampant growth instead of telling them to *u*k off and stay home.

The sad reality for people of modest means is that $100-250K is gonna get you next to nothing in Colorado these days with all the speculation that has driven up the real estate prices pretty much everywhere 'nice', although 'nice' is subjective. Another side effect of the free money follies that drew the equity locusts out West. Maybe if OP waits this storm out he can capitalize on some poor sap who is upside-down in a 2nd mortgage and needs to bail out...

Well said!

Might I also remind everyone of an old saying that I feel applies:

'You're either a part of the solution or a part of the problem'

Please explain to me how Jazzlover's nonstop negativity and complaining is a part of the solution? Furthermore, if nobody ever moved to CO the population will STILL CONTINUE TO GROW. Unless, of course, I missed his rant on how all CO residents should stop breeding as well.

Jazzlover seems to be very smart and well versed in all things CO. That's fantastic. I do feel, however, that he could have a much greater impact on the issues he holds dear with a complete attitude makeover. Who knows though, maybe I missed all those great times in history where incessant whining and finger pointing fixed problems.

From reading this board, I can't help but get the feeling that Coloradan's think that this is an issue EXCLUSIVE to Colorado. You're not that special. It's a problem VIRTURALLY EVERYWHERE that has JOBS.
