Can you say the same?
Learning from past mistakes, learning from history, and looking to avoid those mistakes in the future...that's a bad thing?
Conservation and preservation are bad things?
Fixing problems before they happen...this is a bad thing?
Concern about the environment, about our land and water resources...this is a bad thing?
The question is...why don't you care?

Wow, look at all those assumptions you're making. Please show me where I said any of those things are bad. I said Jazzlover's attitude stinks. Plain and simple.

I wonder how many of the people in this survey are among the idiots ( IMO ) who want to keep driving pick up trucks the size of bulldozers and live in houses the size of Medieval castles, who now think it's OK to rape the planet for MORE OIL (broken link). Even though I think these people are socially irresponsible idiots I have no desire to legislate their greedy habits out of existence or keep them from living where they choose to live. Taxing the hell out of them, now that a good idea to me.

And I wonder how many who are decrying Colorado's growth moved here themselves from somewhere else! Only the native Americans are the ONLY real Colorado natives, anyway, so even if one was born in CO, one's ancestors came here from elsewhere if not a native American.

Care to answer any of the questions (not assumptions) I posed?

The fact that he shows concern, and is quite educated and articulate in that concern, about things beyond his lifestyle, is quite apparent.
Can you say the same? Yes, of course I have concern for the issues facing the region.
Learning from past mistakes, learning from history, and looking to avoid those mistakes in the future...that's a bad thing? Of course not and I never said it was.
Conservation and preservation are bad things? Nope, never said they were.
Fixing problems before they happen...this is a bad thing? Nope, never said it was.
Concern about the environment, about our land and water resources...this is a bad thing? Nope, never said it was.
The question is...why don't you care? I do care.
That was pointless because I never said any of those things. You just assumed I felt that way because I don't agree with Jazzlover's delivery. You assumed that I don't care, not just that I don't care like Jazzlover. Your words: ' The question is...why don't you care?'

Even the so-called Native Americans were newcomers at one time! Colorado no more belongs to a Native American than it does to you and I, or anyone else.

It appears to me that Jazzlover does far more than complain and point fingers. He gives information, facts that can help people to decide their own minds on subjects. It doesn't appear he gets his facts from a blog on the internet or such, but from experience and official sources of said facts. I, for one, find him informative and helpful.
However, I do agree that if the OP wants to buy a summer cabin or something, it doesn't make him an evil intruder. Also however, I agree that his price range won't get anything he would like.

I totally agree that Jazzlover provides a tremendous amount of good information. I've credited him for such more than once. That's why I find it amazing that somebody so well schooled on the problems AND passionate about them spends so much time on city-data not-so-subtly blaming the lion’s share of the state/regions problems on everybody that doesn't live life his (i.e. The correct) way. Why not put 1/10th of the effort into actually trying to FIX the problems rather than just bitching about them. No, trying to keep people away from the state on a message board IS NOT FIXING ANYTHING.
Colorado has a long history of localism, just look at the 'native' license plates as an example. Such a welcoming group of folks, to be certain. Perhaps those people that refuse to see the obvious negative slant in his writings fall into that group with him and just don't want to admit what's obvious for most.

There is a bewildering amount of info on the net and i wonder if anyone could help point me in the right direction
i am looking for a town or city that has lots of snow in winter but pleasant summers, ideally golf and fishing in summer and my version of skiing in winter
also (and dont ask) but i would love to find a property or land on or near a working railroad

Getting this back on track...
You want all this and have $100-250K.
The answer is a resounding NO. You'll need to double, if not triple, that number if you want what you're looking for. And you likely won't have the railroad part, at least in the sense that it'd be useful to you as a commuter or whatever.
