Our property is no where near Denver. We can't wait to get out of Denver when our plane lands there. I agree...no escape there! We are WAY north west, in a very small community but just an hour away from Grand Junction. That's perfect for us. My husband grew up out west and that is where his family is so I'm aware of what I'm getting myself into.

Thanks for the advice though!!
Reese

Katiana, you are not a wet blanket. I appreciate the thoughts.

I'm not one to recklessly jump out of the frying pan into the fire. As I said in my previous post, my husbands family lives out west and we go twice a year to our place as well. We did lots of research and hands on checking in our area (FAR AWAY FROM DENVER) and have gotten to know our neighbors and the locals as well. To my knowledge, there have been no tornados in our parts (1 hour from Grand Junction). Even if one shows up though, it's not the same as being in Tornado alley. Snow I can handle and even enjoy and the heat is fine if there isn't the humidity...and there isn't. The teens I've been around in our area of Colorado (when we've gone to the drive-in or 4th of July festivities, fairs, etc..) have been fantastic in comparison to what I see and hear daily in Indy. Sure...there will always be some draw backs but we're willing to take the risk!

It sounds to me like YOU should consider a move though. Although no place is perfect, the area we are moving Northwest of Denver really is a paradise to us compared to Indianapolis or even downtown Denver as you describe which wasn't even an option when we were looking. We are getting far AWAY from large cities.

Things change though...ya never know what it will be like anywhere in 10-20 years we just hope to enjoy as much as possible for as long as possible.

Thanks again and best wishes to you.
Reese

I really don't know why I should do that. I never said I was dissatisfied with my life here. I did not say anything negative about downtown Denver; I said there are crazy drivers all over the state, not just in Denver. In fact, some of these rural drivers are much worse than city drivers (who wouldn't be around too long if they drove completely out of control). There are lots of driving threads on these forums, you should read some of them. I don't understand your beef with the teens in Indy? My daughter went to college in Indiana for two years and met lots of nice kids. She got homesick and came home to finish here. There were lots of things she didn't like about Indiana, but the people wasn't one of them. People are people everywhere. "Mean girls, druggies, what have you.

i would just like to add that i grew up in colorado. way over in the ark valley that noone ever seems to think is a part of colorado b/c it's flat and brown. i have lived in texas now for a good 20 years but am still waiting for the day when i can move home. my husband is a texan and it's been so hard to convince him. however, i will be completing my master's degree soon and will move back then. i cry everytime i arrive in colorado and everytime i leave. looking at the brown scenery is home for me along with the tumbleweeds! i will most likely live in colo city or rye when i return. why not the ark valley? mainly b/c the main industry left town (the VA hosp) and the town has really taken a hit. Home is where your heart is, good or bad, and colorado has always had my heart.
