An hour from denver.....?
I am moving to Colorado in a year with my 15month old daughter and my Husband. He works on the NORTH SLOPE in alaska so we cant live more than an hour from the airport in denver fro this reason. So i am at a loss on where to look to move here is my criteria:
Good school district
low crime rate
basic needs shopping
areas to hike and bike
children activietys
not too crowded
we are moving from alaska so we obviously need some good scenery.
i dont know if this helps but we plan on buying a home in the price range of 200-300..
thank you

Within an hour of DIA covers a lot of territory. Will you be working too or just your husband? You really need to come to Denver and drive around a lot to get an idea of what neighborhoods appeal to you and which don't. Most parts of the metro area have what you're looking for except for the NW quadrant approaching Boulder since the house prices get more expensive up there.

There are plenty of homes in the OP's price range in Broomfield, Lafayette and Superior, and some in Louisville. Not many in Boulder.

What would a typical house in that price rage up there look like? Last time I checked realtor.com (few months ago) I didn't find much that appealed to me that cheap.

In the 300s, the usual you would find anywhere in the metro area. 3 BR, 2-3 baths, 1500-2000 sq ft.
Boulder Homes Boulder Real Estate camera HOMES: Boulder, Colorado surrounding areas Boulder Real Estate Listings Daily Camera & Local Area Brokers. Covering Real Estate Boulder, Lousiville, Erie, Lafayette, Longmont, Nederland, Broomfield
There are also a lot of reasonably priced homes in Erie, which is a real "family" town.

There is never a permanent snow cover in the metro Denver area. Last winter there were about 60 straight days of snow cover, with it dwindling towards the end, and it almost set a record, which I believe is 63 days. That said, there can certainly be snow in March. We sometimes get some of our biggest dumps in March.
BTW, those 60 days were Dec. - Feb.

From what I've seen and read, Denver doesn't get snow covered for months at a time like some parts of the country. But the snowiest season is spring so definitely be prepared for snow in the end of March.

I'd try to find a place in older parts of Loveland, Berthoud, or Ft Collins. (decent communities, closer to recreation, further from suburbia & on the correct side of Denver from the airport)
Colorado is pretty parched compared to many parts of Alaska... be prepared for a barren winter and toasty summer
