Maybe we are old and too educated to understand. I have found out the more education you have; the more you expect from a job, no not a job, you want a "position". There are less "positions" but many more jobs. If that was not so, how come we are a destination for the many illegal aliens from Mexico. If they can find a job, you can find a job. The requirement is that you must be willing to accept many jobs and not be seeking a "position". In addition, if you are young and healthy you have many choices. It is also helpful if you do not have dependent children.

These people are young and if they do not expect to find a professional "position" then they will be fine---afterall, they speak "English", so there are many jobs. Many of these jobs may not give you the satisfaction, the wages, the benefits but you can survive and perhaps have time to find that "position", especially if you work in the evenings or nights. Be satisfied with less, buy less and you can be poor but

I came here with no job and had a job the next day---and quit it in 30 minutes--when you have ethics. I got another job in 6 hours and then eventually found a "position" in three months--yea, big deal---job, career, profession--all the same--it really does not matter--it is work. The trick is to learn to be satisfied with less, buy less, save more and consequently you have less a requirement for a job or a "position" and you can always tell the man where he can stick his "job" or that big fancy "position".

You have a point, livecontent, I agree. It's not what I would do, certainly.

But. . . it's also not what I would want my daughter to do. The OP has never even been to Colorado. Her BF is currently unemployed. Jobs, any kind of jobs, are not plentiful here. Here is a statement from the OP: We are both biology majors, and the job market in MN for that area is terrible. It is no better here. We tell everyone else, "do a little research, know what you're getting into". This couple should do the same.

In the short future will we see the replacement of man with machinery swing back to man? IDK what the costs would have to be to make labor more profitable than having a machine do it....especially with a minimum wage in place.... Sorry for mutilating the topic, but your post sparked an idea haha. Biology majors.....hmmm....I assume you could work in your field here, but im not linking anything together.
