I know my company is hiring and the pay is pretty good. You would have to go to TX for a couple weeks of paid training, then come back to GJ to work. some of the requirements are
pass drug test
get a class B cdl- eventually
no felony convictions
it is easy work if you don't mind long hours and working outside
Benefits are about the best you can get.
and it's entry level
message me if you want more info

oil jobs on Western Slope
I am currently looking at oil and gas jobs in the Western Slope region online but not having the best of luck. I've heard from a coworker that hunts in Rifle that there are tons of good paying jobs. I'm currently a heavy equipment operator making $20hr but would quit in a hart beat to have the opportunity to make more. Can somebody already in the industry point me in the right direction. Companies to contact. Types of positions, pay, etc. Thanks

Check out gjsentinel.com and find the jobs through the classifieds. I'm in Grand Junction currently and I will attest to the fact that there are a ton of oil jobs currently. While the number has gone down in the past year, there are still plenty of companies looking for workers. Most oil companies will hire for 18-22 an hour with no experience. As far as heavy equipent operators go, I'm really not sure what the demand is, but I have indeed seen a few ad's in the paper for it. I know this because my husband wants to become one. Mind if I turn this around and ask you how you enjoy your job?

Yeah they are actually kind of hard up for workers, the sentinel website Amri put is a good place, also you can contact Mesa State College about job fairs for the industry, which they have all the time.

Amri, I really like working as an equipment op. Just like the oil industry it is hard long days but the money is good. In Ca where I live though the work has really dried up so I'm looking elsewhere.

Ok, let me rephrase my question. I've heard that guys working the rigs and other oil service jobs can make into the $75k to $100k range. Does anyone have any insight?

Sure. Be prepared to make that job your life. I know many guys that work out in the patch. Sure, they bring homea decent check, but work A LOT of hours, and have little to no time for their families, etc.

As far as the money goes, yeah. Most places will hire on at 18-22 bucks with no experiences. If you go X amount of months with no troubles or accidents, etc. you get a raise. There are plenty of young college kids driving brand new big, lifted dodge rams with "RIG RAT" scrolled on the back, so quite frankly it is obvious the money is good.
Another thing to consider is the schedule, though. Most places are two weeks on, two weeks off. The actual jobs are not in GJ, but places like Rifle, Debeque, and little towns within an hour or two of GJ. You drive yourself out there, work 12 hour shifts and stay overnight at a man camp. This goes on for two weeks then you get two weeks off. It's a schedule some love and some hate. Sometimes you can find a company that does 1 week on 1 week off.
