Wink Of course

You know you want to take US 36.

I-70 is obviously the most direct and fastest route. Why bother with I-80? Neither of those between St. Louis, MO and Colorado would be on my 'must do' driving list.

If you have the time and inclination the way less traveled is invariably more interesting. I have no experience with US 36 between these two points, but having been through the Midwest would expect a lot of flat, agriculture and ranching. Lots of open country, not much traffic, particularly if you occasionally opt for roads even more obscure than US 36.

Such drives can be really interesting. You're bound to remember it long after forgetting just another tedious drive on an interstate dodging trucks.

Highly recommended.

Do it! You might think you'll have an opportunity to do it later, but you just never know what the future holds in store. More than 35 years ago, I was just a stones throw from South Dakota and thought about making a detour to the border. I decided to pass up the opportunity thinking that I can do it later. Well, it's now many years later and I still haven't done it. For more than 30 years now, I could tell the world that I've driven thru or visited 49 of the 50 states. South Dakota is still missing from my list. GO FOR IT...make sure you go thru Nebraska!
