Cool Moving to CO, but where?

I have been exploring options to move to Colorado... but there are so many choices and i just keep going in circles when researching myself...
I am 27m single and am looking to live near a city that has all the basics and jobs, but not necisarilly a huge metropolis either (though I seem attracted to Colorado Springs). i would prefer to be in a small neighboring town, close to or in the mountains, but do not want to be snowed in all the time.

Here is what i have learned so far...
I am NOT interested in the Metro Denver Vicinity itself (but maybe nearby)

I AM interested in Colorado Springs

i prefer the idea of small / medium sized cities but they seem very limited (like Canon city is has almost no job oppotunity other than the jail work)

Maybe something in the Ft. Collins area would be nice (they are not so big but have some opportunity, but i do not want to be over run by college students).

i must have close access to nature trails, mountains, etc... NO FLATS

i have a variety of job skills, mostly in tech, but i can adjust...

I have looked at places like Manitou Springs Near Colorado Springs and Longmont, Castle Rock, etc... All the western Colorado towns seem really isolated...

AAAACK! I just need some locals opinions on which area would be best suited for me.
nature, mountains, good for single person, not too big (smaller the better, but needs decent economy), weather, friendly environment/people...

I know people say this is a common issue... Colorado is just like any other state as far as finding the right place I guess?

Manitou Springs meets all of your criteria, it's so close to Colorado Springs that you'd have access to city amenities but you'd also be living in a small town in the mountains with hiking.

I agree, sounds like you would do great in Colorado Springs. Anywhere on the West side of Colorado Springs would be great. Part of it will depend on how much you can afford for rent or house payment. Once you figure out that, then you can really figure out an area. Even if you have to live on the east side of Colorado Springs, you are still w/in 15 minutes of the foothills. easily.
