How is it? I know they are always open until may or jUne, but just wanted to get the opinion of as many people as possible who have actually skiied there during this time (my trip would be around April 20th or so) to find out how good the ski conditions are then. I'm used to "spring skiing" i.e. mid-march, so just wanted to make sure I could probably count on it being about as good. Anywhere else in CO better for late APril?

THanks so much, I'm really anxious to get some good skiing during my vacation and that's the only option as far as dates that I have!

The Basin in April can be very good. Barring a really bad year, it's a pretty good bet -- if you can read the sun/terrain combo and time it right, you can get some great corn skiing.

Loveland (just over the pas) is also good in late spring. This was May 6 at Loveland in 2006:

I'm not sure where you are coming from, but if its outside of Colorado you should be plenty happy with late April conditions at A Basin. They will likely be slushy half way down and at the lifts but still hands down better than my best ski day in the east. As the other posts imply, it does depend on the snow pack and how recent the last storm, but you can count on the majority of the mountain being open. Depending on how many days you'll be skiing, you may want to look into a pass. They have added a few new ones this year, but the Colorado pass and the Summit County Pass offer unlimited days at great prices. If you will be buying 4 or more lift tickets you should definately compare prices.
