I will be driving from Los Angeles to Chicago soon. I am mapping out my route and think I will be spending the night near Rifle, CO. Is there a cheap hotel near the 70? I am checked Super 8, and Hotel 6 but don't see any. I only need a place to sleep - nothing fancy.

Thanks.

With the oil field boom going on in that area, the hotels are gouging everybody, as many of the guys working out there are in hotels or temporary housing. My suggestion is to stop in Eagle or thereafter on the other side of Glenwood canyon.

In todays world, even the cheap hotel/motels are expensive.

Instead of stopping in Rifle, you'd be doing better to continue on to Grand Junction. There's not much to be had between Glenwood Springs and Junction, and what is there is being filled by oil field workers.
