How about Winter Park? How does that compare to the three?

Haven't skied WP in a while, so my impressions are a few years old.

I think it's a great mountain for beginners and intermediates with long winding runs (as with any place else, the major arteries get crowded) -- better than Keystone or Copper IMHO. Awesome tree-skiing all over the mountain. It's a heaven for bump fanatics. Some great skiing up top, but the problem is that the lines are too long if you stay on the front (I think they are/did replacing/replace the old lift with a faster/bigger one, but that means more crowds), and it's hard to do laps off the back. Gets pretty good dumps as well.

Some good hiking opportunities in the summer in the area as well.

Can't tell you about the village/town life since I did only day-trips.

In Summit County, Copper is probably the best ski area for experienced skiers. But if you buy there it's like eating a bunch of the same flavor of ice cream...you'll eventually get tired of the same thing. I would favor the better town location since you can jump on the bus and go to whichever ski area you'd like.

Breckenridge as a town is the must fun, winter & summer. Second is Frisco. The others are pretty much winter-only. Yes, Keystone is full of beginners, and we never ski the front half because of it, but their southern terrain is nice. Breckenridge is a nice ski area, but I agree, the terrain and layout is a bit "odd". A tourist wouldn't notice, but a "regular" would tire of those difficulties.

Owning at Copper means good access to good skiing, but your monthly expenses are higher than other areas, and IMHO, summers are almost dead.

I agree you get more bang for your buck with real estate in Winter Park. We have owned there since 1992 and have yet to tire of skiing WP and Mary Jane.
