A few pictures of Breckenridge area and Pike's Peak
Driving on I-70 into the mountains. Yes, that's snow in August.
Ramp to hopefully stop runaway trucks. The brown and grey trees you see are dead pines killed by the pine beetle. Very sad to see in person just how many trees have been killed.
Marina in Frisco on Dillon Lake
Walking around Breckenridge
We took the cog rail way to the top of Pike's Peak. The weather was nice and cool at the top but not cold. I wore jeans for the occasion and had a sweatshirt with me but didn't use it.
The granite on Pike's Peak is porous and fractures easily from the weather. Huge parts of the mountain are covered by rock fields.
Big horn sheep
Road to the top of the mountain where they have the race every year
View from the top

Thanks. I think my favorite is the stream in Breckenridge but the one of the little lighthouse is pretty cool too.

Is that last picture you looking over your future home state?
The cog railway is cool isn't it? Did your forehead feel like it was going to cave in? Mine sure did. Next time take it in winter, now that's real beauty.

I'm thinking of taking a day trip to OC this weekend, getting out of the ghetto and exploring some nice suburbia. Maybe I'll post some pictures on the Orange County forum and we'll see how CO and CA stack up with each other?

Really nice pics Escape.
If you're gonna look at California pics, I recommend you look at my pics of the better half of California; NoCal.
Here, here, here, here, here, here...
San Francisco, Avenue of the Giants, Humboldt and Mendocino beach pics, Carmel & 17 mile drive, and Monterey Aquarium pics.
I'd like to do that Cog rail when the plains are covered in snow. That would be nice.
I escaped SoCal about 31 years ago and I've got no desire to look back.
Escape, J4 looks like he's checkin' H0 out pretty serious.

Well the southern half of OC looks pretty much like Highlands Ranch or Castle Rock. The northern parts look a lot like northern Aurora.

Yep, I think it is.
I didn't have any problems on the railway. It did get a little cool, especially when we stopped at Windy Point where the old stone building is and I did feel the air getting dryer as we climbed but no sinus problems.
We have an invitation to house sit in Colorado Springs for a week in February. If we do, I'd love to take the railway up again then. I'm not sure what we'd find to do in Springs for a week though.
