Default 34 yr old single female thinking of moving to CO

Hi - I'm a 34 yr old professional female thinking of moving to CO. (I have lived in NYC for the past 7 years, but grew up in Southern GA.) What city would be a good place to live? What is single life like out there? Is it easy to meet people? I have loved my experience in NYC, but am tired of the "rat race" - I'm looking for a place with a slightly lower cost of living, where I can easily meet different types of people and enjoy life a little more.

Thank you!!

Denver Metro area is an excellent place for single, 30something women. I lived up there in my 20s for a while and I actually miss it.

Housing is much cheaper than NYC but a bit more than GA. However, the opportunities for a single of any age in Denver are pretty good if you get out there. Jobs may be tight (nothing new to the entire nation) but housing is good, you will need a reliable car though.

From LoDo nightlife to tons of outdoor activities to more domestic activities (thinking clubs or classes for dance, pottery, gardening, photography...), to just meeting your neighbors Denver is an excellent stepping down from large NYC to a more laid back metropolitan area.

Lots of cultural activities like the DAM (Denver Art Museum), local theater productions, good local bands, etc...

Of course there's always the major sports leagues - Broncos, Rockies, Avalanche, Nuggets, Rapids...even some non-sports fans can get into at least the people watching. Most true at a Rockies game - watching people at a Rockies game is very, very interesting.

Your job, your budget and your desires are all key to where you may end up though. If you are looking for an even slower lifestyle, Colorado Springs is here (more a family city and just down the road) or Ft. Collins which, while it is a college town, is also a mellow place to live and both cities are close to Denver for more action when you want it.

Denver, however, is a happy medium for all things religious, nightlife, politics and such.

Explore the various forums here to get an idea of how some of the locals in each place feel about their respective city and jump back here to put more information on your interests and desired lifestyle.

If you don't want any barriers to the single life, ski towns like Vail are the place to go. The male/female ratio is about 5:1 so you'll have a plethora of choices and there is plenty to do activity wise.

Sit down for 5 minutes and you'll likely have vultures lurking around everywhere. Trying to rebound, play the sympathy angle, pretend to be successful, etc.
