Ha! I'm a native and I know both of those.
Well...I'm not exactly sure where Severance is (by Leadville?). lol. But I'm still a native!

Dude, they're alright. I think I'd actually really enjoy them if they weren't so chewy and greasy. They DO taste like chicken--but an especially chewy and greasy one. I think if you shredded them up and put 'em in a taco, it wouldn't be so bad. But they serve them whole and crusted and they just sit there and taunt you.

You need to go to Bruce's. They're NOT greasy there. As Jazz noted, their fry cook has them figured out. Used to have turkey oysters too, which were kind of sweeter. Severance is about 8 miles ESE of Ft. Collins. Take the Timnath exit on I25 and head east. I especially look forward to trying those new bison nuts on the menu. Whoah.

Mm, mm, good! I could eat that whole plate of 'em myself--and have.

OK - I'll drop off a bunch of leutifisk ( slimey, rotting fish marinated in lye - an old family recipe) on you doorstep - if you try that, I'll try your oysters .

I've tried leutifisk--not my cup of tea, I must admit. Rocky Mountain Oysters are much better. I do know what lefse is, though. That's pretty tasty, you betcha! (Norwegian aunt from right on the SD/Minnesota state line.)
