Pueblo or Pueblo West?
Hello again,
I am looking for more advice. We are relocating to Colorado for a job in Canon City. We have pretty much decided to buy a house in Pueblo or Pueblo West. My husband is leaning towards Pueblo West, I am liking Pueblo. I am looking for advice on which place would be best for us. I am a stay at home mom, and I would like to be in more of a neighborhood, rather than in a house with lots of land. I also would like some grass, for the kids and the dog. Pueblo West seems to be a little too isolated for me, but the crime stats of Pueblo makes me nervous. Also, my daughter will be starting kindergarten in the fall, and I want to be in an area with good schools. Help, please!

So you don't want a xeriscaped foilage, cactus, rock and bare dirt landscaping? You better not move to Pueblo West. There is some green grass out here, but it is being uprooted by moles, gophers, prairie rats, and being covered in BLEEP by rabbits as we speak.
You want to have an actual neighborhood? Where you can actually walk to the post office and store and maybe pick up the dry-cleaning on the way? You want sidewalk and gutters?
Good luck in Pueblo West. We have the loafnjug.
Pueblo West has a banner saying that it is a "Planned Community". I don't understand the plan. It has no central core. No real "Main Street". No real "Town" feel to it.
Move somewhere nice- somewhere in one of Pueblo's nicer neighborhoods. I'd look and see if anything in Aberdeen (sp??) or on the north side off of Ridge would suit your needs. El Camino is nice too, but the drive is already going to be 10+ miles further than if you live in Pueblo West. To be near a good school will surely affect this decision.

Pueblo West
I much prefer Pueblo West to Pueblo. It's much prettier and is certainly a safe place. Yeah, few sidewalks (although there are communities with sidewalks). But it's not just a loaf-n-jug place anymore. Safeway, WalMart, Walgreens, fast food, restaurants and they are about to begin building a large clinic/emergency room as a spin-off of ParkView hospital in Pueblo. Lots of homes have grass, fences, whatever. There are some very nice areas in Pueblo as well (in particular near the university) but you may find them fairly pricey. Good luck on your decision!

We live in Canon, and as soon as our house sells, we are doing the same, moving to Pueblo. I know exactly how you feel...one week I look in Pueblo West, really do like the land, but then we find an older charming home in Pueblo proper with the trees, yard and neighborhood feel. I am driving my husband crazy because I can't make up my mind.
Tell you what, I have the perfect house for you, only 3 years old, grass in the back for your daughter, nice neighborhood, and only a couple blocks from a great school....In Canon City, so close to your husbands job. Just kidding....just anxious to sell ours and get moved! There are some homes in Pueblo West that don't have as much land, so you wouldn't feel as isolated. You can look at homes all around Pueblo at Colorado Homes for sale and rent in Canon City, Florence, Penrose, Pueblo, Pueblo West, and numerous mountain areas., just choose Pueblo from the drop down box instead of Fremont county.
