Default Tell me a bit about Evergreen

We were looking for communities near to but outside of Denver and Evergreen looks really good to us so far. I'm wondering is it a reasonable trip to and from Denver (and it is Evergreen considered a part of Denver?). How are the schools? Crime? Generally a good place to live?

It's probably about 45 minutes to Denver, sans bad weather and traffic, longer with either or both.

I would say Evergreen could be included in Metro Denver, probably as an exurb.

I would imagine the schools rate high.

Crime....haha....ha...haha....I wouldn't think there is very much there.

I would like living there (it is very pretty) if I didn't have to work in Denver. I don't like commuting.

There have been similar posts recently asking about Evergreen. If you do a search you will find them. To get you started:

Yes, lot of threads on Evergreen, do a search. We like to go up there on weekends and hang out. Its a nice little town in the foothills, but winters will be colder with more snow. I don't mind that, so we may buy a place up there and move. We'll see.

The commute during the winters can get sketchy as they get significantly more snow than denver. You could be working in denver where an inch has fallen through the day and up in evergreen it could be 3 to six inches. Some areas of evergreen get more snow than others also

I commuted a couple of times from Evergreen to Aurora for training in the snow and didn't have a problem with it.........It is true about the difference in snow, I left my apartment in Evergreen where there was roughly 12' and got to Aurora where there was just a dusting.
