I have lived in Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico... While living in NM I commuted to Colorado 4 days a week for school. People are people everywhere, some are rude and obnoxious boasting about where ever it is that they live... I don't think that it's predominate more in any state than another. I think it's just who you surround yourself with. Teri, find a place that you can call home, the rest will fall into place. I honestly think that Texas was the friendliest and yet the hardest place to make friends in simply because everyone lives in a comfort zone and like little change to thier surroundings. But then again that may just be the truth with everywhere... this is the first place that I moved knowing no-one. As far as boasting about your state or where your from, I think we should all hold a little pride in the place we call home, if we can't simply do that we should move on and find our slice of heaven somewhere else. A reason why some people (it's the same in taos and the enchanted circle as well) are resentful to change is because they love the place they call home the way it was when they moved there, they moved to denver to escape LA/Houston/Atlanta/Miami etc but what's happening is that with the influx of transplants comes the other problems (higher cost of living, congested traffic, etc) and Denver is rapidly becoming a mirror image of the places transplants have left behind. It's not any one person's fault, it's just what happens. So what I am saying is Colorado is georgeous and I do not blame you one bit for want to relocate there, because I do too!!!! and while there may be some hostility from some, there will be others that will welcome you with open arms. Don't let anyone intimidate you or make you change your mind on relocation! If colorado is calling you, listen...

My guess is that it's because no one wants to live there.

No One wants to live here huh?? I guess that explains why the Houston and Dallas metro areas are among the 2 FASTEST GROWING in the country......that's a whole lot of "NO ONES".
