I'll be voting NO on this amendment. Look at what unions have done to the air travel and auto industries to name a few.

Unions had their place years ago making great advances in worker safety.
Wages vary from union to union, localities, trades and positions. My husband doesn't make anywhere near $96/hour. The union in Colorado only has 8% of the market so they don't have the power to negotiate for wages like you had in NY. In fact the union that my husband works for has had to lower wages for workers in order to get certain jobs. Different places, different situations.

UPS drivers are also a great example (union). Since I deal with them daily (not working for them), these guys (delivery drivers) clear over 100K a year. I didn't believe it until two drivers showed their previous W2 statements (for bragging rights) and loved to talk **** about how many days they can miss work and not lose their jobs.

So what can brown do for you?

Why does he need the union to negotiate a wage for him?

What happened to getting hired and paid according to ones abilities, experiences, and the demand of said trade?

I thought what everyone said looked pretty even-handed and fair, except mine which I had already addressed.

Honestly though the argument does not stand up so I am not terribly surprised by someone leaving in a huff.

Just one last question, why are you voting no on this?

Look at what unions did to the big 3 in Detroit. Uneducated workers making $25+/hr. But of course that isn't good enough, they get greedy and WANT more!

Everything you want to know about this amendment: Colorado Right to Work Initiative (2008) - Ballotpedia

I'll be voting YES.

I don't vote YES on any Amendment ever, even if I agree with intent. The state constitution is no place for regulations on the operation of unions in workplaces. The supporters should have issued this as a statute and not an amendment; it's indefensible what they did. Imagine if the U.S. constitution worked this way -- that every time we wanted to pass a law, we put up an amendment to a constitution. If that happened, we'd have a mess something like what we have today in Colorado.

The only time I will ever vote YES on any Amendment is if it's to fix the broken effects of another amendment. This year, 59 is in that category; the rest are not. Someone needs to teach these petitioners a lesson on this point.

You do realize that the whole reason for this amendment was because the governor and the Colorado congress went around the people and after promising to leave the state of Colorado a right to work state (which it had been for a long time), the immediately changed the rules after the last election and made this state pro union. This is just the people getting what they originally were promised before the officials tried to screw them.

By the way I know some are confused, a vote no leaves it as a pro-union state, a vote yes means we are back to a right to work state.
