Relocating to area - looks like probably Castle Rock.

looks like Castle View HS is a great choice for my kids but they made it easy to check them out - had an enormous academic download to review. Lots of courses - including engineering for my oldest and japanese for my youngest.

But as I was looking at the county school site I see that the boundry lines for the high schools seem to run down the middle of Castle Rock - the west is Castle View and the East is Douglas County - which doesn't list their academic offerings in any way online. I was dissappointed because I was really imipressed with Castle View but seems like some of the rentals that are more in our price range are in Founders which looks to be zoned for Douglas County.

Hubby is in town this weekend and will be looking at homes, new boss told him that really the kids can go to any school we want them to regardless of the Zoning???

Can anyone answer this question?

thanks so much,

Cindy

Open enrollment starts in January for the next school year. Call the school. Will his job be in Castle Rock? What about yours?

Thanks for responding!!!

Enrollment is in January?? Really??

Hubby's job will be in southeast denver. He drove it today and is pleased with the commute (granted it was Sunday afternoon not rush hour). I'll be looking for work when we get there.

where in SE Denver? Do you think 45 minute commute is ok? What do you/he like about CS besides the engineering/Japanese class

Not sure where in SE Denver - the company has a few locations and it hasn't been decided yet - but he's discussed with them that we're focusing on CR - 45 min commute for his is a piece of cake - he is currently covering multiple locations and his commute could be anywhere from 45 up to the occassional 3 hours.

It could be that I was drawn to Castle View because they had everything out there to view - tons of course offerings, great AP classes and a selection of electives that appeal to my boys although 1 is still in his last year of middle school - which having the middle school next door is convenient. The block scheduling is great because that's what we have now and I couldn't quite see how we could transfer his grades to a school without it. - Douglas County High might be similar - they just dont' have anything online to judge by - click on academics and you get a list of teachers and thats it.

Hubby went through the Meadows in CR and fell in love, instantly felt at home, spoke with some of the residents - hopefully we can find a rental there...

How difficult will it be to transfer mid term instead of at the beginning of the year...
