That drives me batty. I hear it all the time from translpants on the news and every time I hear it, I email them to tell them to stop it.

Being that I am from Colorado Springs, I have more of a mid-western accent with a bit of nasal but that's in part because of my allergies - that's my story and I am sticking with it.

But Colorado really doesn't have a particular accent per se, seeing as we have people from all over the US around here. I would be curious to ask my father who's family moved here in the early 50s to see how things have changed. His family is from Minnesota and Pennsylvania but he has a decidedly basic generic speech. AKA you mostly see that on the news. He doesn't say things like aboot for about, he says it as ah-bout. Pretty generic. I say it the same way but in C Springs, I hear all kinds of accents. Lots of military around here.

I was born and raised in Colorado, 6th generation to be exact. I have been asked several times if I was born in the south. Many people think I have a southern drawl. I have only been to the south once, so I know that hasn't influenced me. Funny that others have been told they sound like they are from the south too!

Think Yankee and you're getting close for Colorada.

It's also worth saying that Colorado accents are similar to California ones, and not just because a lot of Californians moved here. I'm a Boulder native and I can detect no difference between a California accent and an urban Colorado one.

Although we get less CaliGirl speak, which is less of an accent and more of a set of crutch words.
