Initially, after reading on here for a while, I first posted a few specific area-related questions. I am one of those people that can't have too much information, from all sources. It's up to me to sift through it all. I wanted to gain information on the area, and from some helpful info from genuine people, I got my answers. It was quite helpful, it factored in when making my decision.
Why would I mention a single thing about finances when all I want is information on the area?
I have a real problem when someone dicates or judges what I 'should' or 'should not' be doing. Especially when it has zero effect on them.

I too, have never understood why this preturbs people so badly...I have
mentioned several areas...but never mentioned employment because I
take care of my husband and he cannot work...so we do not have to
address that issue...that is why it has never been mentioned...I know
people are just trying to connect an area with what type of work you
will be needing...but people needing job information usually ask about
it...I guess otherwise, you would assume that someone has the money
to be doing whatever they are contemplating....

Well said. I agree completely.
Though I may see something in between your lines that says you just placed an order for your new Gulfstream IV jet. Fully private, definitely NOT for charter usage. I'll happily handle the luggage for you!

I don't know what forum posts you are reading, but quite a few Atlanta posts mention moving and no job in the same sentence.
"Maybe they know how much they will get for their house." I don't think that's necessarily true--not at all in today's deflated housing market? Home prices are falling like a rock in a lot of areas.
Are you sure lots of people have no money worries today? Just a few years ago the Ford family, Henry Ford's heirs, had a collective net worth of over $2 B. Now, their collective net worth is estimated to be in the $150 M range. UNBELIEVABLE!
Why do I care? I really don't. Do I spend hours and hours thinking of this? No! However, I'm on this Web site quite a bit, and I do find it a little disconcerting how some people assume many things they shouldn't.
My ol' noodle is still working a bit, and I don't assume anything. I've been around the block a time or two.

You didn't say anything about people talking about moving and STATING they had no job. You said that people didn't mention a job. Quite a big difference.
No, there's no guarantee about a home price but there is still generally a good idea.
No, I'm not sure people have no financial worries but if they ask for info on a location, and don't mention money problems or a lack of a job, I don't know why I'd figure otherwise.
Maybe that's not what you were talking about. Impossible to tell that from your post though, the one I first responded to, where you complained about people "not mentioning" a job.

It's not. However, having endured many posts from many people with seemingly unrealistic plans for existing on air out here, starting coffee shops in the mountains, communes in Boulder and the like, it's something some of us think necessary to consider. The job market is certainly no better here than most places right now. If you are independently wealthy, or you have a lot of money saved and can live without an income for a while (say, 6 months or so), it's fine to come here w/o a job.

I hear the weather in California is especially nice this year. After reading this post, and being a Coloradian, as far as I can remember, the standard answer for out-of-state'r's questioning the weather here in Colorado is, "It's freaken cold in the winter, 12' snow drifts in Denver, can be snowed in for weeks, and it's miserably hot in the summer, 110 degrees, for weeks!
