I visited Boulder last week for the first time, and I expected to like it a lot. I'd heard great things. In the end, it was...interesting. I didn't care for Boulder, even as a Bay Area liberal. For all the hot air about embracing diversity, I found the community (or at least the portion to which I was exposed) to be extremely close-minded. There was no room for rational discussion. I'm a Democrat, but I don't follow blindly. I can listen to counter-arguments without blowing a gasket, and I actively seek opinions that contrast with my own. In Boulder, I saw people who gave a lot of lip service to inclusiveness, but in the end there was room for only one perspective: the liberal one. I was extremely disappointed.

Mccain was going to continue what Bush has already F***** up. Granted voting was like picking between a Douche bag and a turd sandwich because they have their weaknesses but i'm just glad to see DEMOCRATS back in charge hahaha

But whatever dude man , if it doesn't work for you that sucks, good luck to you tho
Who do you think create the jobs in this country? This whole idea of class warfare and taking all the money you can from the more successful people has never worked.

As for the tax increase have you not seen any of Obama's recent commercials or interviews, that number is now down to either $120,000 or $200,000 depending on the interview. However his voting record also shows a willingness to raise taxes on people making less then $50k a year. So be ready to get screwed as a tax increase right now is not a good idea.

That's another thing, outside of Obama repeatedly stating he was going to help the middle class, what makes you think that is true. His voting record has always been for the poor, or more government control of things, which has been proven throughout history to only hurt the middle class. but keep quoting Obama's supposed belief's that he sold you on, let's not look at his history or his voting record.

No need to worry Ryan, I'm sure all the Californians moving in would never dream about taking away your civil liberties. They'll just do their best to make Colorado an even better place.

Just like they did in California.

I have no desire to take away Ryan's firearms, just keep them pointed away from me!

Well, they shouldn't have to worry about keeping track of a very long voting record...he wasn't present half the time, or just contributed a "present" vote

I just myself am wary of what I personally see as a socialist president with both the Senate and House in his pocket.

The perceived lack of checks and balances is what concerns me.

That was extremely well said and I believe hit the nail on the head about that town. I have experienced that same thing also in Madison, WI, another supposed demoratic bastion of progressive thinking.

I think it's likely that Justice Stevens will retire sometime during Obama's presidency. A Democratic-leaning Senate will make the ensuing appointment process easier. Of course, it's claimed that Stevens wants to retire during a Republican presidency, so he may try to tough it out for the next four years, hoping that the tide will turn in 2012.
