Telluride or Steamboat? Any feelings on these two cities?
Hey guys,
Do I go to Steamboat or Telluride?
I'm trying to find the perfect place to visit in February. I have already been to Crested Butte, Keystone, Copper Mountain, and Northstar @ Tahoe.
We will be going to Snowboard and enjoy the atmosphere, and people. Of course we will try to find some local bars at night but I want to spend most of the week outside?
Any other ideas are welcome...

I have not been to Steamboat, but I gather it's more of a fun place for what you're talking about.
Telluride is one of the most beautiful settings in the world, but it feel awful to be there. I imagine it's like ambling down Rodeo Drive without an interest in shopping. You can feel the money and cocaine and affluence and attitude, you can just feel it.
I love the Telluride box canyon. Drive through, look at the waterfall at the end, turn around, and leave.

Haven't been to Telluride but Steamboat is a great family mountain and town. If your are looking for more extreme terrain and nightlife, Telluride might be the better bet.

I'd do whichever one this year that you can get a better deal at, then do the other one next time. It sounds like you've picked a different spot each previous ski holiday....& they'll both still be around next year. I've been to both, loved them both, but I went down the runs on two sticks since I never learned to use one board.... ..so that could make a difference. Assuming you googled the terrain/run maps - does one have more specialty boarding features than the other?

Guarantee you, Telluride will be more enjoyable. Steamboat is very large, and overflashy for what you get. It is also much colder and lacks the large snow dumps brought by the famous southern Baja flow. Telluride offers more of a feeling of "getaway" with almost a sovereign nation feel, and MUCH more Dramatic Scenery. Unless you have very young children, you will have a much better vacation in Telluride.

All I remember about Steamboat (never been there)
is about the guy who got arrested for taking discarded food out of a dumpster. I don't think the town will ever outlive that story!!!
