Does anyone know of an inexpensive campground -probably out away from mountain views etc. ?

I have a travel trailer and am thinking of coming to COS to have a look around but w/prices of $40ish per day i might as well get a hotel.
So are there any out of the way campgrounds to be had for less ?

Thanks in advance -Mike

I don't park in campgrounds so I don't know those prices. Depending on the time of year, I would park in NF campgrounds but they may have water shut off if fall and some of coarse are just plain closed in the winter. Don't have all the hook-ups but with an RV you have all the conveniences anyway. Last I hear they run from $10 to 25 depending. I don't park in them either. During the summer mos. Everything is higher. I have an Alaskan camper, I go in and look for hunters camps. Don't cost anything. Not all areas will allow.

I use 'guest homes' ~ $20/night (there are several groups online, I personally use 'church' or homeschool groups) and travel in one of my 50 mpg VW's (used fryer grease, bio-d, veggie oil, or in worse case - diesel). Can sleep in the back of my VW pickup at a walmart, but lights are bright... I keep a sleeping bag for an occasional night under a tree (or a city park if in WY.)

You might join a hostel organization. I think camping fees are way too high, unless I own a campground. (working on that now).

You might check some moblie home parks in rural towns east of COS, some have a few spots for RV's / tents.
