Confused about CO is on a distinguished road
Default Should we move there?

Hi all! I am doing some research about CO. My husbands father lives in Brush. Other than that, and knowing a few names of major cities, I dont know anything about CO. After reading a number of comments on this site, I am wondering if I even want to move there. We would need a good job, great schools and things to do. Any advice?

Keep on reading the threads. Use the index of key topics to get up to speed.

In order for any of us to give you advice, we need to know more about what kind of job and where'd the job would be, price range of home or rent, what sort of lifestyle you want, etc.

I think you need to be a lot more specific about the information you want. IE:
  1. What industry/ies are you looking to work in?
  2. What kind of schools do you need? What are the age(s) of your children?
  3. What level of income are you looking for?
  4. Do you want to be in a city or mountains? Do you want to be on the East or West side of the mountains?
  5. What kinds of activities do you enjoy? Are talking about outdoor things or indoor?
  6. Do you want to buy or rent? How big of a property do you need and how much are you prepared to spend?

And do more in-depth research on this site about these questions. Pick an area and start scrolling thro the topics.

I agree with Kat. The BEST thing you can do to answer your questions is to visit in person. Also remember, everything you read on this forum is someones opinion.

COLORADO = NO VACANCY

Hah, I remember those bumper stickers. I can relate to the feeling, but you people are gonna be real, real sorry in another 10, 20 years. There's plenty of vacancy in Colorado, and people are gonna keep "crowding" in there.

A lot of us are "real, real sorry" now. And I do got tired of out-of-state posters saying they know more than people who have lived in the Rocky Mountain West all of their lives--and dealt with the natural resource (especially water) issues here for all of their lives, as well--about what the "carrying capacity" of this region really is. The real fact is, in much of the Rocky Mountain region, we have reached or exceeded the population that can be accommodated without incurring either a) grievous environmental degradation, b) a significant decline in material standard of living, or both. So, unless they have some magnificent professional credential or professional insight into the whole economic and ecological picture of the Rocky Mountain West (and not many out-of-staters do), those outsiders should "butt out" of this discussion.

I can't expalin it, but if Colorado doesn't get "in your blood" its not for you. Native or not its a lifestyle and attitude, not just a destination or place to live. Many easterners don't get it, but when I moved to CO I felt free and that I was in a place that I wanted to live, not forced to live.
