Relocating to Rangely?
I am seriously thinking about relocating to Rangely, CO. Does anyone know of affordable housing to rent? Possibly a property management company there?

Since its a college town, your best bet would be to find a place about the time that school is letting out for the year. You could also call up the college admissions office and tell them you're considering moving to the area to see if they can give you any leads. I'm sure they get questions from prospective students all the time.
If you haven't been there in the winter before, you should make a trip before deciding to move. Its pretty cold....

SterlingGirl is right. It's 80 miles north of Grand Junction and the climate leans a little more towards Craig than Grand Junction in the winter. But in the summer it cools down fairly nice at night. Elevation is around 5600 ft., 1200 ft. higher than Grand Junction.
It is a college town, but certainly not a college atmosphere one. There is still quite a bit of energy companies up there, and have been for many years. No huge grandiose mountain ranges surrounding it, more like hilly scrub brush. But it's nice in its own way. Population is only a few thousand, so shopping IS an issue. Lots of the townspeople come into Junction and shop at Sam's Club to stock up on groceries. The ones I have talked to who live up there really like it, though. I have close friends who live west of Salt Lake City and sometimes I go through Rangely as an alternate route. SterlingGirl is right on staying there for a few days to get a feel for the town. Super 8 is up there, and there are a couple mom and pop motels that I hear are OK. Just curious, why Rangely?

5600 ft is nothing. I have lived at 9300 ft for the past 20 years 50 miles SW of Denver. I like the thought of a milder climate closer to Grand Junction, but lately the news has said we have had better weather. I would like to keep my house here for the summer months, but plan on relocating to work at the college dirong the spring/winter. That is the reasoning behind the rental. Thanks for the info on Sam's Club. Luckily I am a member. My sister lives in Grand Junction but that would be to far to commute. My interview is scheduled for mid January so I can't wait until the semester is over, but possibly the college does have some idea. Thanks again.

Rent was pretty cheap when I was there. I rented through Rio Blanco reality. I was only spending about 350 a month for rent for a 2 bed, 1 bath. Unless anything has changed no "fast food" in town, just a subway. There are a couple good places to eat on main st. There is a rec center with a decent pool. If you like the outdoors and a sense of isolation then it is a good place to go. Just have a open mind and be resourceful!!!

That pretty much sums up Rangely in a nutshell. Small and isolated. 50 miles to Vernal, UT, 90 miles to Grand Junction, and 90 miles to Craig. It's not the most scenic area in the world, either.

Rental in Rangely
Hi Tommie, I came across your post in January.
I am looking to rent or purchase a place for my son in Rangely. He wants to move there by June 1st.
I will be financially responsible for him and the property.
Thank you in advance, Megan [ mod cut ]
