Another big weekend in Pueblo with the usual downtown festivals and this big show at the fairgrounds with a parade in downtown.
Pueblo will be hosting its 25th annual Rocky Mountain Street Rod Nationals this weekend, beginning Friday. Rowlett said more than 2,000 street rods are expected to be at the Fairgrounds for the event. It is the area's largest vintage car show. "

CSU - Pueblo will soon add another program. Here is the article from today's Pueblo Chieftain:
"Colorado State University-Pueblo may soon offer a bachelor's degree program in athletic training after the Board of Governor's of the CSU System on Wednesday approved a proposal for the program."

Again no major devlopment news but "steps" that are good news for Pueblo.

State's top coaches look forward to football
The state's top college coaches sat side by side and answered questions about their teams in late June. Wristen was a guest at this same event a year ago "It's nice to be included, to be thought of in the same category as CSU, CU and Air Force,"

I remember when it was the University of Southern Colorado and was a state joke. Its nice that it is now considered one of the top football programs in the state and is just more proof as to why I am exited about the universities future.

Cost of living below average in Pueblo
This is was on KOAA and is great news for us and yet another reason I am so exicted about Pueblo's Future.
"Out of more than 300 cities across America, surveyed during the first few months of 2009, Pueblo had the second lowest cost of living in the country."

Sudden im-PACK-t
More good news about CSU Pueblo in todays Pueblo Chieftain and why I am so exicted about it's future.
"A decision two years ago to bring back three sports has made quite an impact on the Colorado State University-Pueblo athletics department. So much so that excitement and enthusiasm on and off campus has reached its highest level in more than 20 years."

Went through Pueblo a few days ago and saw something in the Pueblo Chieftan that was, um, I'll just say unfortunate, involving graffiti. A lot of city and residential property got marked up in Pueblo West Thursday, according to the story. Also the gang taggers marked up a sheriffs car. Damage was estimated at well over $20,000. There are suspects involved here, one being a 12 year old kid.

Pueblo Bank and Trust
Pueblo Bank and Trust Building in 1950
This was taken in the 1950's at PB&T.
Pueblo Bank and Trust Building today!
This article about one of the oldest banks in Colorado that is headquartered in Pueblo helps illustrates the kind of history Pueblo has. This bank has branches all over now and even has atm's in Las Vegas. This is truly a Pueblo success story!
In 1889, at the end of his first two-year term as Colorado governor, Alva Adams banked on his hometown of Pueblo sticking around for a long time. He was right.
Pueblo Bank & Trust, the bank Adams founded, marks its 120th year of operation Tuesday.

More Pueblo up dates
This is Pueblo's version of I-225 in Denver and is being widen thanks to the federal goverment! Not sure of any other metro in the state that has a major highway like this.
Consider this a before picture! When Pueblo Springs is annexed this will be the main norh - south road on the east side called Pueblo Springs Ranch Parkway. It will be either 4 lanes or 6 lanes and run over 20 miles into El Paso County and maybe over 30 miles if its continued into El Paso County as the map shows! Colefax Ave in Denver is not much longer then this Parkway and in fact I think it is less then 30 miles! So this might someday be the longest road in the state that is not a highway.
Personally, I would like to see it eventually be a major 6 lane Park Way that connects the Pueblo Springs Tech Park to Pueblo on the south and Colorado Springs to the north making it one of the most important roads in the state.
Nice view of CSU Pueblo!
