Question Granby Ranch/Sol Vista?

We've been kicking around the idea of buying a place up in the mountains for a couple of years now, and have been doing our fair share of research checking out different resort areas slowly over time.

We visited Sol Vista/Granby Ranch this weekend and were very impressed. Does anyone have input on pros and cons of this area? I realize it's farther down 40 than Winter Park is - we made the drive yesterday in less-than-perfect weather, and yes, I wish it were closer to the metro area. But for the price of real estate there and the amenities offered for young families like ours, could it be a wise purchase? We are definitely looking at it as an investment, but in a long-term way; we want to find a spot where we will go for the next 10+ years. We are still looking at Keystone and Winter Park, but honestly, we just skiied WP on Saturday and it was so crowded it just wasn't really enjoyable.

I understand that there is a new commercial development in the planning stages at the entrance to Granby Ranch on Hwy. 40, which makes me feel good about the area's long-term prospects.

Any input is greatly appreciated!! Thanks

Grand County in general is reasonable compared to the other Ski Counties -- I would say it is your best bet for investment, particularly long term. I lived in SolVista area for awhile -- area called Innsbruck which has had its ups and downs but mostly ups lately. It's 15 miles to WP and Grand Lake and Rocky Mt. National Park. There are good amenities in the area. Good luck!

I heard about the area from friends and made two ski trips with my family of six. We fell in love with the area and bought one of the 2b/2b in Basecamp One preconstruction. If still interested let me know because several changes in lifestyle and health have led my wife and I to consider selling the unit.
We also vacationed in Granby last spring (golf) and summer (rafting).
