Default colorado, yes or no?????????????

hi everybody,
me, my husband and our three kids are thinking about moving to colorado after he retires from the millitary.
neither of us has been there, i just like what i read and what people tell me.
how is the chance to find a house and jobs?
how are the schools and which area should we live in?
is there a county where you can buy a cheap ranch and still close to a city for job purposes?
i hope you guys can help me

We need more information, kind of jobs would be a good start. Then do you want to live in a big metro area or city or rural area. Also the kind of schools you are looking for. Colorado has something for most people so its a matter of finding the area that has what you need...

Knowing only these generalities, look at Peyton, CO for 40-acre ranchettes that are close enough to COLO SPGS for hubby to find a job with a contractor serving the military. There are other areas with ranchettes, like out by Canon City, also in commuting range.

Use Real Estate Listings, Homes for Sale and Rental Property Listings – REALTOR.com® to search on properties in these areas, this will give you a ballpark on price and home styles.

Another area that might work is the development on I-25 on the Pueblo and El Paso county line. Its close to Fort Carson, Pueblo and Colorado Springs yet has acreage. Not sure what school system it is in though, Fountain maybe?

hi, thanks already,
my husband looks for something in human resources and i am looking for day care places or pre schools.
i don't want to live right in the city, so something smaller would be nice.
and again, if a ranch, it has to be "cheap". not more than 300.000.
but cheaper would be better.
we'll need kindergarten, elementary and also middle school. one of each.

LOL if you think that $300,000 is cheap you should do just fine in Colorado.

Then I would suggest Pueblo West. You can get big lots and its close to Pueblo and Colorado Springs.

Colorado Springs area is a Military Town, Multiple Installations and VERY military friendly...this also translates to federal jobs: www.usajobs.opm.gov . Apply early as the federal hiring process is a slow one, and apply for multiple positions. Since your spouse is a retiree, they probably have some disability as well, the 10pts preference helps a lot in landing the federal jobs.
