Default Pikes Peak or Bust' rush marks 150th anniversary

I saw this in the Pueblo Chieftain and explains why Colorado grew and Wyoming did not....

If not for the Pikes Peak Gold Rush, Colorado might look like the wilds of Wyoming.

"The gold rush created Colorado as we know it," says Denver author Francis J. Pierson. "It was the real impetus to civilization. It brought the population growth that otherwise wouldn't have occurred."
