Default Looking to move to CO.

I'm looking at moving to BC or CO in winter next year. I'll be 21 and looking for a smaller mountain town with a ski resort (or very close to one) and has a very laid back vibe to it while still having some tourism so I can get a job at a restaurant at nights. It would also be ideal if it's within an hour of a bigger town/city. Places I have been looking at are Steamboat and Crested Butte but I'm worried they might be a little to isolated for me.

Tons of stuff here already from other young folks chasing the dream. Use the search tool with word(s) like: ski aspen vail breckenridge steamboat telluride glenwood copper arapahoe, etc. Use the town names with a second term like: housing rental group jobs work commute.

Lol why do they still have the christmas tree up (if that's what it is)? I also heard Breckenridge is really touristy and coming from Vegas I would like to get not as much as that.

All the ski resort towns are touristy. That's where all the big money lives. The houses are anywhere from 2-4x higher than the state average and the average salary there won't buy you one of them.

Living in a ski resort town isn't impossible but it requires you to make a VERY good living, something the local economies don't readily support. For instance, a lot of the people who work in Steamboat Springs live in Craig, Hayden, Yampa, and Oak Creek.

You said you need tourism so you can work at a restaurant at night, right?
Well, if you want to make money, I guess that would mean a touristy place!
A resort small mountain town.....Frisco/Silverthorne????
Eagle and Gypsum/Wolcott would be close to Vail.
Alma and SouthPark are semi close to Breck.
I'd suggest staying on the West side of Eisenhower Tunnel (did I spell that right?)
Glenwood Springs is close to Beaver Creek and Vail.

I don't know why that Xmas tree is there. A week or so ago, there was a block type snowy castle thing. They are always putting things in that courtyard. Hmmm??
BTW...my xmas tree is STILL up....I AM taking it down tomorrow...I just like it so much!

There's a difference between places like Breckenridge and Aspen compared to Big Bear. I don't want a huge touristy spot but a smaller destination so it is still bringing in the tourist but very local friendly too.
