Default Black Forest, Colorado Springs, Grand Junction?

We're from MN and would like to move to a milder climate. We need to be within a communatable distance from a hospitals, since that is where we both work. I've heard great things about Briargate in Colorado Springs...what about Black Forest, or Grand Junction? Black Forest looked nice with all the trees around, and living in a small town would be OK with us. When I was searching for real estate in Black Forest, everything was listed in Peyton...so now I'm confused. Grand Junction looked charming with the small shops lining the streets and art sculptures on the corners. Suggestions, anyone...?

Black Forest (BF) is an area that is mostly in El Paso County, same as COLO SGPS. Because it's a bit higher in elevation, it seems to get more rain, enough to keep all those trees alive.

It's a rather large area, sitting just east of Monument and Gleneagle and running east a good ways, and may include parts of Falcon and/or Peyton, etc.

Much of BF is in zip 80908, so search on that zip in realtor.com and you'll see tons of BF properties, most of which are on 5 acres and have a well and septic system. The parts of BF that are closest to COLO SPGS will be only a few miles from the new Memorial North hospital, and it's no more than 3 more miles down Powers to the new Penrose-St.Francis hospital at Powers and Woodmen.

There is a lot of info in the forum on GJ, check the index of threads and/or use the search tool. It's all the way across the state from the Front Range and a very different world in many ways.

s/Mike

I live in Falcon, about 3 miles south of Black Forest. Black Forest is really nice, lots of trees to block the wind, and much more quiet and "Colorado-y" in my opinion. The reason that Black Forest is showing up with an address of "Peyton" is that, like Falcon, there is no official post office in Falcon or Black Forest. There is a post office in one of the local banks, but the 'official' post office is in Peyton, that's why the confusion.

Default about Grand Junction

Grand Junction's climate is dry, mild in the winter, and very hot in the summer. Very little precipitation. Lots of sunny days. It's the desert.

There's one small street (Main) with the quaint shops and such. The immediate surrounding area is the older part of the town, with tree lined streets, old Victorian houses. The rest of Grand Junction is a lot newer with new subdivisions.

The main hospital for the Western Slope is here in Grand Junction. It's called Saint Mary's.
