Those of us who have read Katiana's posts consistantly, received DM's/rep points from her knew these messages were bogus from the start. She is too nice..why her? I feel rather left out that I didn't receive any troll message--I thought for sure I would have been included as someone who enjoys the occasional troll punching.

Wolfboy914 is right. This character is a bozo. It's sad to have an open forum like this marred by one person. Kat, I'm glad you got it resolved.

Thanks for letting us all in on that clever tactic. In case it happens to us. It's always good to let the public know how to hornswagle the system, lest it hornswagle them first. of course, noe what the cat's out of the back, it could open the way for others to copy the horrid practice. Hopefully not.

Here's another tip - if you ever get into a real tiff with someone and it gets way out of hand, just make sure you're the first one to report it to the authorities, especially if that means the cops, since they'll almost always take your side and punish the other person, even if you're both equally responsible. I learned that in anger management class one time. The instructor begged us to pretend like we didn't catch that point, since almost every class does, but I thought it was too valuable not to pass on to the general public. At least know this - if someone reports something against you to the authorities, you're pretty much helpless if and when they decide to crack down on it. Such is life.

OK, how do I report someone who sends me a rude, nasty, sexual DM? I'm not seeing anywhere on this site how to do that.

Report it to your local Mos ASAP. If it's a DM, then there will be a record of their username, and that would likely be grounds for immediate expulsion, so that can easily be rectified, though sadly not undone. Katiana's point is that nefarious users have been using rep comments as a way to send nasty messages anonymously, or worse, in someone else's name.

Did that really happen to you?

It would be nice if they could make reppers' username mandatory. That way they can't hide.

Then you can still rep someone anonymously by hitting the + sign on the bottom left, but don't have the option to comment.

Denverian: forward the DM to Katzenfreund. As Tree says, that poster is busted because they can't do that anonymously.

If you mean to me, yes, it did happen. There are several examples on the Denver forum, and more on Pittsburgh. I didn't know until someone complained, on the forum.

I wanted to let this run a little bit w/o my comments. Thanks to everyone for your support. I may not agree with everybody here, but I'd never send a nasty message that way. Even when we could give negative rep, I rarely did.
