Given your criteria the area seems like a solid fit. You might also expand a bit further east towards I-25 given your price requirements. Quite a few good deals to be had in those areas right now.

Does Broomfield have an older downtown area with shops and a place to walk around? We're looking for an older downtown, not a new mall. If you would like to suggest other cities in the Denver/Boulder area, that would be great! Thanks!

Not really. All thats left are a couple dilapidated storefronts and an old grain elevator by the near dead railroad tracks. Broomfield has several different shopping areas and is quintessential exurbia. The newest one is Flatirons Crossing, that behemoth car centric mall next to the Interlocken tech center.

I weigh in on posting it in Boulder, as I am a Denver Purist. Not that Denver is pure, but the point of urban is not suburban. Since Boulder is not urban, it gets Boulder, Louisville, etc.

Broomfield is hardly exurban, surrounded as it is in three directions (S., E. and W) by other suburbs. Even the north boundary is adjacent to Erie.

I'd look around Broomfield . The rents here might be a little higher than in Ft. Smith. Another place to look is Lafayette, just west of Broomfield.
