Given your criteria the area seems like a solid fit. You might also expand a bit further east towards I-25 given your price requirements. Quite a few good deals to be had in those areas right now.

My husband and I live in Broomfield (in the wonderful Willow Park subdivision) and we absolutely love it! You have the proximity of not only Boulder and Denver but also Westminster, Louisville, Superior, Lafayette, and Arvada.

Here's a link to my photo sets of the area: Collection: Colorado (http://www.flickr.com/photos/tigerlily7007/collections/72157606765669361/ - broken link)

Here are some threads that discuss the area more in depth:

it's come down to these

Thank you for all of the replies. I was honestly surprised to see it bumped back up after so long.

We moved to Broomfield at the beginning of July. So far so good

Does Broomfield have an older downtown area with shops and a place to walk around? We're looking for an older downtown, not a new mall. If you would like to suggest other cities in the Denver/Boulder area, that would be great! Thanks!

Not really. All thats left are a couple dilapidated storefronts and an old grain elevator by the near dead railroad tracks. Broomfield has several different shopping areas and is quintessential exurbia. The newest one is Flatirons Crossing, that behemoth car centric mall next to the Interlocken tech center.
You might look into Olde Town Arvada which has experienced a huge rebirth over the past few years, and will have a light rail station if the Gold Line is ever completed. With the current debt crisis and its effect on the municipal coffers, FasTracks and projects like it are already underfunded and could be in real trouble.

I weigh in on posting it in Boulder, as I am a Denver Purist. Not that Denver is pure, but the point of urban is not suburban. Since Boulder is not urban, it gets Boulder, Louisville, etc.

And as we all know everything has to either be black or it has to be white. No such thing as gray.

Broomfield is hardly exurban, surrounded as it is in three directions (S., E. and W) by other suburbs. Even the north boundary is adjacent to Erie.

Default Pondering move to Broomsfield

Hello,

I currently live in Fort Smith, AR. I am considering a job in Broomsfield. I was looking for help about the area. I have a 2 year old and my wife is due with our second child in May. Anyone have any ideas about good areas to live? I'm looking to rent a 3 bedroom house short term. Any better areas within reasonable commuting distance? What would you consider to be the better places to live in the surrounding areas? Thanks in advance for any info you can give!

Jason

I'd look around Broomfield. The rents here might be a little higher than in Ft. Smith. Another place to look is Lafayette, just west of Broomfield.
