We had a major snow storm here on the East Coast about 3 weeks ago... first week in March. The DC TV news stations were in a frenzy. Each station had several reporters out at early hours of the morning throughout the city reporting news vignettes about the snow. The media was loving it and in heaven with their "TEAM COVERAGE".

This snow storm is GREAT news! It's just in time. AND, The extended weather forecast is calling for snow virtually every day at Dillon right up until the day before we get there. Excellent!
Don't ski out of bounds after this storm!

This will be a lot of wet heavy snow on top of an icy crumbling base layer. In other words, perfect conditions to kill yourself in an avalanche.

Thanks much for the tip, sterlinggirl! Where we normally ski here on the East Coast we only joke about avalanches as we have a couple feet of base and a 750 foot vertical at 4500' elevation. Thanks much for reminding me about the real danger. We will definitely be staying in bounds.

Thanks for the clarification
Drives me absolutely BONKERS... last night on the news.. 7 minutes on the story of this "major snow storm".. I was like - are you kidding me,,, in a huge metro area... and this is the BEST you can do. - Im theorizing that doing a story on the "weather" is actually cheaper then looking for "real news"..

*just my frustration... I stopped watching the news for the most part and catch it every so often*

ROFL.

Granted we really need the snow!!!! I'm predicting 6 inches for the metro area... at most. We shall see how my weather tuning is.. haha

I do hope it DUMPS on us!!! I really really do, we need it so bad.

Thumbs up blizzard warning for eastern Colorado

Hazardous weather outlook
national weather service pueblo co

...blizzard warning in effect from 3 pm this afternoon to 6 pm
mdt friday...
...winter storm warning is cancelled...

The national weather service in pueblo has issued a blizzard
warning...which is in effect from 3 pm this afternoon to 6 pm mdt
friday. The winter storm warning has been cancelled.

This blizzard warning covers pueblo county...huerfano and western
las animas county. Selected cities included in this blizzard
warning are pueblo... Pueblo west...walsenburg and trinidad.

Snow...heavy at times...will develop across the interstate 25
corridor this afternoon...continuing into friday. North winds of
20 to 40 mph...with higher gusts...will also develop today and
continue into friday...producing widespread blowing and drifting
snow...along with near zero visibility. Travel conditions may
become difficult or impossible at times...especially from tonight
into friday.

Total snow accumulations of 1 to 2 feet are possible...especially
south of the arkansas river in pueblo county and across the higher
terrain west of trinidad and walsenburg.

As is typically the case with these type of storms...northern
pueblo county will see lesser snow amounts...most likely in the 8
to 12 inch range.

This will be a dangerous winter storm. Please stay tuned to local
media or noaa weather radio for later statements.
