I am so jealous!!! Here in Amarillo, Texas everyone is freaking out, with the warning of POSSIBLE accumulating snow and blizzardlike conditions. I wish I was in Colorado/NE NM where I could rent a couple movies, make some chile in the crockpot and enjoy mothernatures gift of a fourday weekend, but instead I get to here all these Texans freak out... Which is comical in its own little way. I do believe that WalMart is a mad house right now, and I hear that Albertsons just sold out of tomato sauce and chile seasoning lol. What I would give to see a REAL Blizzard of 6+ inches not to mention a couple feet!! Have fun everyone! and for those of you along the I25 corridor in the walsemburg area, GoodLuck - I know it can get hairy through there!

You got that right! If anyone thinks the weather hype is bad in Colorado, you've probably not lived back east. In Virginia Beach, a place that rarely gets any snow, one of the TV stations had what they called Tripple Doppler Radar. Let that name sink in for a moment. With Tripple Doppler Radar it was easy to generate hpyerbole about the next great blizzard when so much as a single snowflake was spotted. Tripple Doppler Radar was probably funded by businesses like grocery stores, Lowes, and the Home Depot.
I enjoy living in a place ( Grand Junction ) where watching weather radar ( just single doppler probably! ), is usually about as exciting as watching paint dry.

The news media is simply reporting a story that people want to watch nothing more nothing less. I know I love it when they have their live coverage around the Pueblo area showing the storm and all the warnings! KOAA does the best job, but that is just my opinion.

Cosmic is right. I live in Fruita and we just BARELY had enough snow to cover the ground. Snow level over here looks like 5500 feet, maybe a little more. We had a good rain last night, though. But problems aren't far away. Accidents in Glenwood Canyon AND DeBeque Canyon this morning. The high is only going to be 40 today and needless to say the fruit growers a a little nervous.
gberry! Whazzup? Yep, I KNOW about those Panhandle storms! Got stuck in Amarillo for a day and a half several years ago. Spent the whole day at Hastings CD and Video reading books upstairs, and bought a bunch of CD's downstairs. Then walked to Furrs cafeteria and chowed down. I had a lot of time to kill as I-40 was shut down for the day. I was staying at the Motel 6 on 40 and got stuck right in the middle of the service road trying to turn in to the motel -ARGH!

Complete whiteout here in Arvada. Took 45 minutes to go 5 miles. 10" on the ground. Visibility 15 feet - not an exageration. Glad we've got a 6 month supply of food in our larder!

Here's what it looked like in Palmer Lake at around noon today. The 'worst' (meaning the best) is yet to come. I just hope the power stays up.

well it's petered out in Longmont...we got about a foot, and within the past couple hours the roads have gone from treacherous and icy to easily passable and wet/slushy.
skies clearing, sun trying to peek out here and there....glad I fertilized last night, though.
the "big storm media mania" disappoints yet again...
