Same with me on the fertilizer. In Fruita this morning it rained hard at 5 a.m., snowed enough to cover the ground, stopped, then sleeted, then the sun came out, then rained, and now snowing pretty good.

Gov. Bill Ritter has declared a statewide state of emergency because of the snow and wind, which means the National Guard is available to help local agencies when needed.

CURRENT SNOWFALL IN INCHES:
Nederland 11- Longmont 9 - Collins 8 - Evergreen 13 -Broomfield 14.5 - Thorton 8 - Westminster 14 - Lyons 8 - Boulder 12 - Arvada 11 - Erie 10 - Greeley 9 - Golden 10 - Lafayette 9
It will clear for Saturday and Sunday but ANOTHER snow storm may be coming on this MONDAY and late next week. If the storm strengthens, this Monday we could be looking at ANOTHER 6+ inches. Looks like April will live up to the snowiest month of the season.

Well, this shows what an automobile-dependent suburban sprawled mess populated by tons of transplants who have seldom seen snow looks like when a fairly common Colorado spring snowstorm comes along: Gridlock, idiocy, tons of accidents, and other foolishness. In the nearly four decades that I have been driving in Colorado, we have gotten consistently better vehicles with better traction and braking systems, better tires, tons more money and effort spent on plowing and clearing roads--and yet when a storm comes along, it ****s up Colorado's transportation system more than ever. Just too many vehicles going too far with far too many "loose nuts" behind the steering wheel. Gotta love that kind of "progress."
As to the weather today in Colorado, it validates what any old-time Coloradan knows about Spring--we really don't have it in the Rocky Mountain West; between March and June is a period of time when the weather ingloriously lurches back and forth between winter and summer, often with little more than a few hours between the two.

I loved every minute of it! Why I drove to Pueblo West even though I live in the city. I got to visit my mom and I had a great time driving out and back in. I even called KOA in Denver. I have more great pictures and will post them tomorrow. Also, when the sum comes up I plan on driving to the reservoir to take a shot of it with the mountains in the back ground all white from the new snowfall!
