moved to pueblo west
Was wondering how many of you like pueblo west. We have only been here a week. I guess it's ok, I miss the green grass and trees we had in Missouri, but did not care for the heavy rains and severe storms there. We would get 3 to five inches in one storm and wash roads driveways out. I really don't like the windy weather here but it seems like no matter where you move there is always something to deal with.

True. I expect that Colorado will grow on you.
As for the wind, if allowed in your area, put up a windmill for electricity.

It's windy now! Which means it's dusty and nasty. This too shall pass.
We will green up a little bit over the next couple of weeks and will get some late soakers in the next month hopefully. Pray for rain this summer, we need it. But we get those frog chokers here too that will fill your window wells and hopefully not flood your basement.
If you're in Pueblo West and you see trees that are healthy and over 2 years old, you're lucky. It is dryer than a popcorn fart out here. I suggest humidifiers, chapstick, kleenex, a slip-n-slide and lotion.
Have you been out at the rez yet? Do you have a boat? If not, find a neighbor who does and uses it and bring them cookies until they take you out fishing. Granted, it's no Table Rock.
I like Pueblo West, but I'm glad that Pueblo and Colorado City/Rye/San Isabel are close by and that Colorado Springs and Denver are far enough away.

I like it ok.
You may or may not have seen these. The first batch is trying to show what the P-dub landscape is like in the winter, especially the xeriscape variety; Pueblo West Landscape Pics & Pueblo Reservoir Winter Photo Thread
Maybe we'll get some good summer pics some day.
It's a fairly new town. At least when you look at the recent population boom. It wasn't 5000 people a while back. I remember when there was no Wal*Mart, no Safeway, no Grease Monkey, not Walgreens, no high school, No 4A Colorado Football State Champions!!! Yeah Cyclones!... nothing but a couple of Scarf n Barfs and the Pueblo West Inn.

McGowDog,
Not sure how long you lived in Pueblo West but my mom moved there when I was only 3 in 1977. I went to Pueblo West Elementary School for Kindergarden, first and second grades. Then I moved in with my dad and lived in the city but I was still in Pueblo West all the time as my mom stayed there. So I remember Pueblo West when it was very small with nothing. I even remember asking my parents about the highway as it looked funny and they said it was cus it was just widened a few years ago.

We were in Colorado years prior to moving to Colorado in 1977 and on a trip to the Royal Gorge, we stopped in at the newly opened Inn at Pueblo West in either 1975 or 1976 where I had all you can eat King Crab Legs for $12.00 and the manager cut me off at 3 lbs. I was about 8 years old and I was in P-Dub before your mom and while you were still in diapers.
I win.

I've lived here since 1985 and the wind is about the worst feature of Pueblo West, but otherwise we think it's fine. I have relatives in Missouri (Sikeston) so I know what you mean about missing the abundance of green grass, trees, landscaping. Luckily we do escape the humidity. I hope you like living here.
