I was talking specifically about Old Chicago's.
Although I would like to have a Old Chicago's I would prefer to have local resturants any day. That being said I was talking about things that downtown Pueblo does not have, both have Itialn restaurants. Sure both downtown's wont have the exact same restaurants, if we did that would be sad in a weird kind of carbon copy way.
I'm merely picking 5 things here.
I am talking 5 things that downtown Colorado Springs has that downtown Pueblo does not!
5A Schools!
LOL ok and what does a 5A school offer that a 4A does not? The bottom line is both cities have high schools close to downtown.

Talking about high school reminded me of Dutch Clark Stadium that over looks downtown Pueblo. That is one of the best, if not the best, places to play and watch high school football in the state. It beats Garry Berry stadium hands down.

Hey McGow, long time no type.
Hey so there's a Mataam Fez in Pueblo? My first date with my husband was at Mataam Fez in Denver, east Colfax. Love that place.
I'm thinking of going to Pueblo for the chili festival this summer. What else should we do/see down there? Is the downtown area bike-rideable?

Pueblo has many bike trails along the river that are great. The Chili festival is in the fall, however the state fair is in August.

Hey Wantto!
Joss beat me to the punch.
No, there is/was a Mataam Fez in Colorado Springs between Cascade and Tejon, I think... on about Pike's Peak or Colorado or somewhere. I've been to that one on East Colfax and also the one in Boulder, which shut down a while back. That's one heck of a place! Go hungry!
Pueblo Chile and Frijoles Festival (Maybe around September 21st or thereabouts) as Joss mentioned, and the Fair in the late summer... Street Rod'ers are in town in late June...
Is the downtown bike ridable? Yes, sort of. You have Pueblo Main st, Santa Fe, Grant St, etc, north of 1st Street, then you have the historic Union and downtown area south of that on Union, Main, Victoria, etc... I think up and down the Riverwalk is your best bet. Isn't that part of the bike trail that goes from the Confluence east of there to the Nature Center way west of there? Yes! Then from that link it would take you to a Lake Elizabeth as they call it... part of one of our parks as it goes along the Arkansas. Then if you were at the Nature Center , you could take that trail on into Pueblo West and around the Reservoir!
A calender of events that isn't completed past April!

So am also thinking of heading down to Pueblo as well as Colorado Springs this Summer and would like to know what are the best events to check out, fairs, shows, outdoor events? I travel too much for work and would like to do a Staycation and see more of the Colorado I use to see as a kid. So what are some annual events that I just should not miss in these two cities?

Location, location and location! The downtowns are only 13 miles apart...far less than Pueblo/CS.
Also, Minneapolis and St. Paul are divided by the Mississippi River effectively linking them together. Not only that, but the land between Pueblo/CS is nothing for anyone to see...just flat, sand and always windy. If you've been to MSP, you'll see it's quite the opposite...lakes, parks and trees abound! The topography is identical for MSP...and not so for Pueblo/CS.
Bottom line...most people don't want to live in a desert.

Tell that to people in Las Vegas, Phoenix, Albuquerque etc. The weather is actually helping Pueblo as that is one of the reasons CSU - Pueblo is now the states fastest growing universities, students want to go where its warm in the winter yet they can have a nice easy drive to ski.
The downtown's are father part I give you that but the cities are growing together and will be connected in the next 50 years. Even the mayor of Colorado Springs says that we need to work together for economic development as we are one region.

Not knowing what you like I will suggest 3 events, the wild west fest in may. State fair in august and cili festival in the fall.
Pueblo has plays all the time, I suggest you call the Sangre De Cristo art center for information, or look on line.
