I do agree that Colorado's default plate is one of it's claims to fame, though. It's a great and identifiable plate, even if it doesn't technically represent half the state, it does represent most outsiders' perception of the state.

I think most people who don't live in the same region as say New Jersey, North Carolina or Washington state probably wouldn't recognize their plates at a distance, but Colorado's seems highly identifiable. Note: I probably do have a bias on that perception myself, however.

Really? For millions of years?

Is it also a Wyoming state law for them to drive like Hee Haw's when they drive up and down the Front Range in Colorado?

Then they ought to hire me! I can tell from way back, especially if I'm out of state and see another one.

Come on now! Don't you think the prison inmates get bored enough? Could you imagine doing the old white on green... and the trucks that were all green? Got to spice it up a little bit.

I love the "original" Colorado plate design, but Colorado has gone absolutely insane with "specialty" plates--over 100 different designs with umpteen different colors. Law enforcement hates that--it's virtually impossible to tell if a vehicle is a Colorado vehicle if it has one of the specialty plates until one is practically on top of it.

Good ol' Plain Jane Colorado plate:

2009 Wyoming plate

Traditional New Mexico plate:

All very good designs.

I'd like to see only the Plain Jane Colorado plate and this one as options.
