Interesting results so far. I'm also happy the poll has fairly slowly grown to the current level and hasn't increased in the last 12 hours - no big jumps all of a sudden for one side indicating someone posted in a "pro pot" or "anti pot" forum and got all their buddies to join in.

As of 0030 MST 4/26/09 it is 31 yes, 5 no, 1 don't care

Here's an article in today's Denver Post that will make you scratch your head.

A Colorado mountain bike personality, known for her anti-drug stance, was caught with 400 pounds of weed and $1M in cash.

Only conclusion I can draw is that if alcohol of all strengths is legal, this stuff should be legal too, under similar controls and laws.

Thanks for the story link, Mike. How did I miss that one? Now I realize, it's those lovely brown eyes that all her girlfriends found so irresistible!

I'm really of little to no opinion on this, since there are definitely pros and cons to either side. I'd prefer let the politicians and their voters sort it out and I'll just live with whatever decision they make.

That said, given the dire economic circumstances, it seems unwise to spend dime one one any sort of legislated morality (or legislated good-decision-making, if you prefer). Perhaos they should just let the pot smokers buy and smoke their pot if it makes economic sense and as long as it does not adversely affect the non-pot-smokers. I'd prefer to see legislation against smoking pot (and tobacco for that matter) in public where i have to breathe it in, as opposed to laws against growing, buying and selling it. Maybe they could actually enforce such laws while patrolling the parks and crack down on the horsemen who let their equines poop up the trails at the same time.

I say legalize all drugs to take the profit out of them and put the drug gangs out of business (or at least into a different business, probably body parts).

REAL men dry that stuff out and smoke it, best in a meerschaum pipe, but in a pinch you can roll your own....
