Default Do Colorado(ans) hate out of towners??

I'm not trolling, so don't take this thread as me starting a fight. I am on a journey across country, and I have to say the nastiest people I have encountered were in Colorado/from Colorado.
While going through Grand Junction, I had some do***bag in a Ford F250 with hay bales in the back pull up next to me and scream, "go home!" for no apparent reason. OK, I have a mountain bike in my truck, does that account for this??
I have also encountered other Coloradoans in my travels, and have found them to be less than pleasant. What gives? Do people in Colorado hate people from other states? They don't want the state to turn into a tourist attraction?? I have made friends in Utah, Louisiana and Texas, but Colorado-no. I sense a type of stuck-upedness attitude as if I am tarnishing their (and it is beautiful) state.
Sorry for the rant. Maybe someone can shed light on this attitude. Just had to vent.

Rich, hello, this is the COLO moderator speaking.

I closed this thread because we've hashed out this very topic several times and there's no need to repeat all the postings, it will just turn into another round of hard feelings and remorse over paradise lost.

Short version: There is some truth to what you say. Some old-timers are unhappy with the change that has occurred here over the past 30-50 years. In the past few years, Grand Junction has been an oil/gas boomtown with a share of rowdy dudes, meth issues, exploding home prices, crowding and the like. I'm sure some of those locals are frustrated at the impacts on their existence. The oil boom is now deflating and people are leaving GJ.

Meanwhile, here are threads that have already discussed this, which you may want to read or comment on.
