Default Highlands Ranch vs Broomfield area

We are visiting CO next month and have heard good things regarding Highlands Ranch and Broomfield. We have 2 young boys and would love to know if anyone can share the pros and cons of the two? I hear that Highlands Ranch has much more traffic. I like all that Highland Ranch seems to offer as far as things to do. I noticed there is an Anthem going up in Broomfield..just looks a bit expensive. Thanks!

Anthem is being built by Pulte is on the North side of Broomfield, bordering Erie. There are two sides one is for seniors each side has a recreation center. It is a new community with new properties and new schools.

Highlands Ranch just celebrated it's 25th birthday, it's a very large subdivision with 4 rec centers, bike trails, community classes, has a good schools and a nice tax base. Very kid & dog friendly.

Depending on where work is light rail opens the south east line in November 2006 and Broomfield in 2016. The south west line is already open.
