Default Lightning Pictures from Tonight's Storm 6-5-2009

There was a great lightning storm tonight that headed toward Nebraska and I managed to capture some great shots by using my video camera, then taking frames from it.

For those of you who know the front range well, that's Mt. Meeker in the first shot.

Beautiful. The thunderhead on that sucker was HUGE! we watched it work its way across the front range.

There is about 30 more minutes of video, so hopefully, there will be some additional highlights. After watching these frame-by-frame, I am in awe of the power.

The camera came with a pretty basic program called HD Writer AE and one of the functions is a capture utility which allows you to search frame-by-frame(which is really tedious given the number of frames per second) and convert them into jpeg images. Did your camera come with such a program?
