Can anyone give me some advice for an area in the central- eastern Colorado mountain area, (we're driving west from Kansas City, so I'd prefer eastern) where we can camp and do a very easy float trip with a stable raft rather than a canoe?

We have a 4 year old, and this our first camping/float trip since the summer I was pregnant with the 4 year old. We're also bringing our 13 year old.

When I say easy, of course I mean the current. We'd consider a 2-3 day trip where we'd get off the river and camp, just as long as the current isn't dangerous.

Where is eastern central Colorado?? I guess maybe Ellicott?
That isn't in the mountains with a rafting river sooooo,....I'm confused.
I would suggest Canon City(where I live and just ask the rafting companies for an easy cruise) or maybe Salida?
Hope that helps a little!!

I meant on the central-eastern side of the mountains. Obviously, I was not referring to the plains area of the state where it would be unlikely to find a scenic river or camping sites.

Okay, then I still suggest the Canon City or Salida area. Both off of highway 50 and you would be rafting the Arkansas. There are tons of rafting companies and many different levels of difficulty.
It is really beautiful and can be quite relaxing when on the easier runs!!
There are some that offer camping along the area or, you can just find your own campgrounds along the way. You could visit the Royal Gorge and Buckskin Joes. There are many different things to do!!
I think you would just love it!!!
Google rafting companies in Canon City and you will come up with tons.
I like Raft Masters (hope I can say that)
